Update!!! It’s actually only this forum, all other forums I am on work when i soft press on the like button. Maybe it’s all iphone users with this forum.

The only reason I updated my phone is because the dashcam app for my car stopped working. I‘m hoping I can get the dashcam/app/connection/whatever it is to work back soon.

I hate how the mobile system changed here to now you to need a phone contract. When I was a teenager and growing up we always used to “pay as you go” vouchers to buy like £10 or £20 top up cards and they’d fill your phone for maybe 6 months or until it ran out. For someone who doesn’t use phones a lot it was really good. But they’ve slowly phased that out by now and you need a phone contract to get by. Also 3G/4G and wifi didn’t even exist (I’ve only had 5G once here in the UK and that was in Manchester Airport ).

My old phone, an iPhone 7 lasted me 7 years, I only replaced it because I had to. My iPhone 14 is on its third year now, I’m not a fan of how big and heavy the 14 is compared to the 7 but its the direction everything is going. I probably need new trainers too (my current Nike rosches are on 7 years) but they’re still going so I don’t need to

The site has not had any changes on the backend recently. If the browser you are using suddenly works differently after it was upgraded, it's most likely an issue with the update to your browser.

There are two things that control which "reactions" are available:

• What usergroups you are a member of
• What forum you are "reacting" in.

Different usergroups have different reactions available to them and not all forums allow all different reactions. In other words not all reactions available to you will be useable in all forums. Forums under the "Arachnoboards Information" category have less reactions available to use than the other categories.

Without doubt, this is an issue caused by updates to the OS. To give an analogy, This is a new computer I'm on running the laatest version of Windows 10. Side by side in this thing is a very early version on Win 10. They might as well be two entirely different computers.
Now I am on the same computer booted from a different drive. Same new Win 10 version without updates for 10 months. A third version but with several more features and functions that the newest update eliminated. Trying to get similar functions from the various versions of the OS I have repeatedly referred to MS web site for trouble shooting. Their instructions and images of the various screens are entirely different from my three version and many of the fixes their web site shows and refers to differ from all of them.
And now I'm on the backup bare bones August 2024 Win 10 drive. MS insistently demands I update the OS. Very nice. An alien OS with tiles instead of icons and a vast assortment of pop ups advertising unrelated sites and apps going off every minute or so.
So what do I have, five or six Windows 10s? Each with different displays and or functionality. I'm going to try a trick here.
Okay, this is a severely hacked Windows 10 in my old computer with Windows 10 from around 2018 or 19. No pop ups, and best of all, no MS warnings on everything telling me I have to have adminsitrative privileges to run programs and access the various system settings.

Long story short, every update on any computer or phone = an alien OS with different functionality. I'm not even going to try the old backup computer running Win 7. And beware, IOS is as bad or worse than MS. My partner's old IOS phone has been gathering dust for over a year. Still fully functional but her new pure Android Samsung runs circles around it speed wise, and functionality and apps place the two phones as from different planets.

PS Windows 11: One OS to rule them all, Edge browser to find them, one uber lord to rule them all and in One Drive bind them. In the land of Microsoft where the profits are. (Edge built into the OS firmware and untouchable, Bing the OS default also embedded in the firmware along with a Google partnership and the entire computer slaved to remote MS control, and all your data on their machines DBs.

edit: it is SO ANNOYING.

i did some global research and its totaly an update thing. Its not the forum, but it is affecting us on the forum.

this is what money and updates buy us. I never should have updated but i had to because of certain apps. Its offending. I wanted so long to update.

We, as a society, need to stop accepting thing. Its outrageous. Its totaly like getting sent dead on arrival slings, back to back.

i have been looking into what programming i could change on my phone to get it to work again.

its fine on my desktop so its definitely the upgrade.

with luck a new upgrade is coming.

if i figure it out on my own, i will post it here.

there is another forum i go to, and don’t have that issue. i am trying to contact people who have this expertise.

i actualy found people talking about this on the makers of the layout of the forum.

but nothing to fix it on my end yet.

Have you ever tried to select a reaction other than the default, “Like” on a device that doesn’t have “hover” ability (like a phone)? Try it. It’s always been so irritating I assume it’s going to be fixed at some point, but maybe I’m the only one that notices somehow?

I can confirm the issue is with the following I believe: the AB forum version, the Apple iOS.

Yesterday on my iPhone 13, running iOS 17.4 all was fine using my mobile. In the same day, I switched to a iPhone 16 with iOS 18.4- this version was released yesterday.

As of this morning on AB all I can do is LIKE, and a long press brings me a window asking me to confirm my selection, without an option to select others. Previously a long press gave other options like dislike etc

@MrDeranged I checked on another forum I use daily like this one this morning. This forum uses Xenforo also, but there’s a difference. The AB site reads Xenforo 2010-2020.

This other site reads Xenforo 2010-2023, that forum is https://bcgforums.com/

On that site you can long press and get additional emojis to select. I can report that feature works perfectly on my new phone/iOS 18.4

It seems the newer iOS isn’t compatible with what I perceive to be an older Xenforo platform if I’m understanding the dates correctly.

The feature works fine on my PC of course!
