I am familiar with the general strategies of keeping mites away from your spiders (clean food scraps, mold, and rehousing), but I’ve always found this more difficult to do with Latrodectus spp, since they kind of incorporate food scraps into their web. Still, I’ve never seen it this bad before. I went to go feed one of my L. hasselti and it’s covered in tiny mites (they’re congregated at the junction between the abdomen and thorax). They seem to be really harassing the spider and I doubt she’ll make it much longer. Is there any good method for removing these or at least better preventing them with this genus?
