My biggest mistake was underestimating my knee-jerk reaction. I was rehousing my brand new A. geniculata and as soos as I touched it, it went at it. I accidentally jerked up with the prod and "flung" it about half a foot across my table. Scared me half to death, but it was OK. Never going to underestimate such an aggresive feeding T as an A. genic ;)

My biggest mistake was selling my old collection because of a girl i used to know...
Had a few rare species that i had to let go and are now kind of hard to find here in europe.
I did the same for a different reason. Looking back I'm kicking myself.
Preach, preach boys!!

I went soft for years, I wasn't who I used to be. Lost me all my OW and almost all my NW too. Big mistake.

.. Then I realised I can not be someone that I am not... .. So I tossed her and got me a new house with a room dedicated :D

Once again my reason had nothing to do with another human. Just my own head.

Apologies I did not realise I thought you were same situation
Same result though. Looking back at old pics and just wanting them back.

That said though if I didn't sell my T's back then I wouldn't have the ones I have now.

I am certainly still inexperienced in my rookie year but have learned a lot in a short time. I think it is fine that you created this topic. If nothing else it lets you realize that you are simply like everyone else.

I remember an occasion when I worked a lot of overtime at the work place and wanted to also feed and water all of my T's the same day. I was really tired and dropped a deli cup with one of my Tapi's all newly set up in it. My leg broke the fall of the cup but then it rolled across the floor. I just knew that I had a dead T. Amazingly I found the Tapi covered in substrate right near the side of the cup. It came to the surface before I could even dig it out. I was afraid to upset this T's world further by rearranging things so I just gave it some extra special treatment for quite a while. It became my only Tapi that became a burrowing species. It has since moved back to its plastic plants which actually work even better for webbing with some dirt still on them.

Even an experienced T owner can be clumsy on occasion or ignorant of their fatigue and do something stupid.

EDIT* It also pays to hot melt your cork bark and plants to the cup.
Thank you for sharing! I feel like I'm learning pretty quickly too. I am happy I made the post and get to hear a little from everyone. Also, nice tip on gluing everything down

Glad to hear the pink toe is ok. I shut a larger deli container and crumpled it with an h. Gigas in it. Luckily, the little guy wasn't injured. Also made a post a while back about nearly letting my prized stirmi girl plunge to her death. That's my biggest mistake that will never happen again.

I learned some wisdom in my old age: be true to yourself. If one is told that s/he's got to change to get loving, split quick.

About 7 or so years ago, while still in college, I decided to sell my collection. Huge regret. Wish I had the H lividum, H mac, and T blondi back along with quite a few others.

Today I sat on a new arrival in tub. Half off it crumpled.

I had it sitting on the couch and while leaning over it slipped down under my butt. I heard the plastic crunch as i started to sit on it and I instantly stood up.

Thankfully the specimen was already tucked up on the opposite side. Phew!!!

Now that is a mistake that I wont be doing again. Containers on the floor from now on. Never had a sofa in my T room before so I need to get used to this ahaha
