My nephew found this millipede on the side of our house. It was found in Rancho Cucomonga, California Any idea what species it is? Also I need care help immediately! I really want to keep it but have never cared for a millipede in my life. Help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks :) 0C67AC40-CDCC-4B4A-8C11-4354A473BC1C.png

Looks like a greenhouse millipede to me (Oxidus gracilis) I'm sure if you want to keep it you can set up a millipede tub in much the same way as you would for any other species

What do I feed it? Special sub? Moist? Dry? Hide?

There is a millipede care sheet stickied at the top of the myriapod subforum. They should generally have moist, but not wet, substrate and lots of leaf litter and decaying wood to feed on. You can supplement them with fresh fruits and vegetables (organic). greenhouse millipedes are extremely hardy and present pretty much globally because they have been introduced beyond their native range and are highly adaptable. All you would really need is a container that will hold humidity (like a Rubbermaid container), a substrate rich with rotting wood/leaves, and an occasional misting with distilled water.

I agree, definitely a greenhouse millipede, one of the most common species in the world. Just give it some soil and some rotting wood/leaves and it will do fine. Make sure the soil stays moist, otherwise it will desiccate. Supplemental food like fruits and veggies also work great, just make sure they aren't in the cage long enough to mold.

Thanks,
