So I have a brain itching question, so the Mexican Red Rump tarantula has two different scientific names one being Tliltocatl Vagans and the other being Brachypelma Vagans. Why is that? I’ve got two MRR ones a sling and the other is like a bigger baby maybe 2”, I’m basically just trying to understand and figure out which scientific name I need to write down.

I did a Google search and I believe it was previously called Haplopelma Vonwirthi. Several care videos under that name including by Dave’s Little Beasties about two years ago.

The thing about red rumps is there are too many species with that common name. Ex. any Tliltocatl sp except T albopilosus.

Cyriopagopus vonwirthi is a different story completely. Should be good at room temperature 68-76 a bit warmer or bit cooler would not hurt too much for them. Important to give water dish and fill/clean it when the time comes. Wet a corner of substrate or overflow water dish for humidity. Cyriopagopus tend to like the moisture. If you live somewhere humid you will have an easier time with this.

Brachypelma --> Tliltocatl

Sometimes google gives you no results, sometimes with the old name :D.
