With acrylic or plastic? Do you have any tips or advice you can share? Thx
Do you have skill or the patience to drill glass? 😂

Drilling two round holes on each side, and using 3 pieces of glass and a perforated aluminium grille you can make a pretty nice setup. And using some acrylic hinges you can make an easy access glass lid on top

Acrylic. I work with the stuff daily. I cut it using CNC machines and heat bend the lids. It comes in 2 forms, Cast or extruded, extruded is higher quality and more uniform in thickness and finish. You can buy pieces at hardware stores or plastic suppliers. Measure (twice) cut and drill.
For the standard wire topped cages anything 6mm and thinner will fit in the slot. I like thicker as the weight will stop a T from opening it, but then again I also use locking pegs.

most suppliers will sell as 4' x 8' sheets. If there is one close buy you can shop their scraps.
