NICE b.smithi specimen, seriously. Older than me as well, that's awesome.

Exactly how do you set up their tank/cage/etc. personally speaking?

pink poodle. my B.smithi set up is very simple. An 18x12x12 glass tank, about 2 inches peat/vermiculite mix almost dry. A water dish. she has never used a hide so i dont bother with one but the tank is always covered with a large cloth except a bit at the edge to let some light in. The tank is heated from the back with a heater pad on the outside of the tank. the substrate is almost dry but the water dish must be kept supplied. One thing i did do in the past when i lived in the UK was heat the spider in the summer so March to October she was at 75-80F, then in the winter i turned off the heater so she was at room temperature, about 60-65. more recently she is sharing a heater pad with my pink foot goliath so the heater is always on but it hasnt affected her in any way that i can determine.

i finally got to measure my smithis latest moult in the UK, i'll post the scaled photo in a few days, i can confirm the skin is at 7 1/4 inches!! her carapace is 31.5 mm, from previous moults it seems the carapace grows 0.5mm per moult for the last 10 years or so. if i can get another 5 years from her I may be lucky to see her at 7.5-7.75 inches, pure speculation but who knows.
