Also, when people tell you to keep it with a lot of substrate, remember that mesomelas prefers horizontal burrows to vertical burrows.
Mine didn't burrow until I threw it into a terrarium that was longer than it was wide. It then burrowed all the way along the terrarium, some 30 cm.
In the wild they can burrow up to 1 meter - also be aware that using plants tends to keep them out more.

I just got a small female (3 inch range) and I was pleasantly surprised how her behavior is more like my Acanthoscurria geniculata than my megaphobema robustum. Not only didn't she hide when I opened her enclosure she also pounced on the roach I dropped in. My M. robustum hides if I even touch her enclosure.

@SonsofArachne mine has hid since I rehoused it last week - I think it is burrowing, especially since the temps have sky rocketed here in Denmark..
Ah well, she'll come out once she is hungry
