I dont think the animal control people came out at all, we went for a walk around 4, and the family was outside, and the dog loose. He came barreling at us again, but Pat yelled at him and made him go back. Talked to the owner, and she just sort of stared, but hopefully she got the point. I don't think this dog is really agressive, so much as he thinks he's protecting his kids and property. So, tied up or penned up he'd be good to go again.

My "neighbor" owns a condemned house adjacent to mine and he uses it to store his junk. He doesn't live there. He brings kittens/cats to "control the rodents". No food, no water. They are nice cats, too.

He will be gone for two or three months before he comes back again. Unfortunately, the first one he brought was injured by another animal (below).

Luckily, someone keeps "stealing his cats". Hmmmmm...I cannot imagine who that is, but I bet she has them fully vaccinated and altered on her own dime and places them in homes with families to love them. ;)

It's really commendable that you keep such an optimistic attitude with all you've been through with them.

I raised goats on the outskirts of town, at night loose dogs would pack up and attack my goats. Needless to say wire snares and a 22 culled the loose dog population.

Yeah he is. Maybe they'll come around and keep their dog up. Sorry to hear that man.

She :p

Well, the animal control people called back. They are screw ups. They had the wrong name, the address wrong, and assumed it was a Pitt bull, when we described it as a "black mutt, about black lab sized, with ears that stand up" They basically didn't go do anything, but I'm hoping talking to the people helped instead. I haven't tried a walk again yet, gotta wait for my man to come with and be my back up, lol

oops. my bad:D . Hopefully everything will work out. Sounds like another case of getting a dog they didnt need. I worked with A.C.O. before and I gotta say I'd rather hand the phone to a monkey. ;) Might get better info from the monkey.

LAce why do people always assume that any bad dog is a Pitty. In my experience any dog without proper training acts way worse than a Pitt bull thats been trained by someone thats not completely useless. I mean they can be unpredictable at times but any dog can.

get a bottle of pepper spray, a shot or two of that should teach the neighbors dog to leave you alone.

Wow.Well best of luck with this situation.
Hope fully the owner will do the right thing and chain the dog up,so no one gets hurt, including the dog.

One reason could be that people who buy dogs and neglect them seem to disproportionately buy pitbulls. I've known people who bought pitbulls for protection (probably for the stereotype) and then keep them chained up out front neglected with very little human interaction.

Not the dog, it's the people.
