Let's not forget the other side of things... it would be a shame if the kitty got an eye or noseful of urticating hairs.

Freaking spider people. ;P

{D Good point, we do seem to have a one sided view of things dont we, that poor kitty could react badly to a T bite as well.

kinda reminds me of a British Blue we once had when i was a kid.

Lenore?

as in:

Once upon a midnight dreary, while I pondered, weak and weary,
Over many a quaint and curious volume of forgotten lore,
While I nodded, nearly napping, suddenly there came a tapping,
As of someone gently rapping, rapping at my chamber door.
" 'Tis some visitor," I muttered, "tapping at my chamber door;
Only this, and nothing more."
one of the only poems i could get my head around....Poe rocks! lol

Actually, she was named after the comic book "Lenore: The Cute Little Dead Girl" by Roman Dirge... but I know the comic book name was inspired by Poe. Lenore is the little girl on my avatar.

Very cute cat.

The cat I used to live with (sort of my cat niece) would follow me around the house, chirping it's little head off begging for crickets, and would scarf them down like they were the best thing ever. I was hoping my cat would have the same taste, but he just paws at them. Even still, the little bugger (get your minds out of the gutter, ye British folk!) doesn't get anywhere near the spider room.

On another topic, people shouldn't be so nervous about X. immanis being eaten until they've given it a shot. I found that the experience was worth the cost, though I don't make enough money to permanently replace my potato chips with them.

Well, well....

Martanda picked out a spooky-colored cat...gee, whodathunkit? {D

Great pics, and good luck with the kitty guys!
It IS possible to find a nice cat, I have come to realize since becoming the adopter of an abandoned kitty myself. Mine is very good about not harming all the critters I have here. I hope yours behaves as well.

I do have a caution about your shelving....better to be careful than sorry...
If I were you, I'd get some thin clear plexi, and cut it to fit the front of your shelves, and screw it on. Make it go up about four inches or so. That way, a paw reaching in will only succeed in moving the vials to the side, and not toppling out onto the floor. Just a suggestion....
take care!
Goon.

There are only 12 vials on a shelf where the kitty can reach (the other 2000 are filed away in kittyproof tupperwear boxes), and usually the humidifier is sitting right in front of them to help keep a nosey kitty away.

The door to the spider room is always locked. The kitty is only in there when we are there to keep an eye on her... but honestly, after that first day of sniffing around she sort of lost interest in the spiders and crickets. Now she just follows me in there and falls sleeps on the X. immanis box

those lazy, laissez-faire kind of kitties are the best! Maybe one day I'll be fortunate enough to live w/one. :p

I'm really jelouse of these cricket eating cats. My 14 year old siamese Axle could care less about eating bugs now that he's old. but at least he can still mouse like a pro.

P.s the reason I want him to eat bugs is cause my beardie cage had a cricket sized hole in it so 50 five week crikets are now singing ALL over the house. (lazy @#$% cat) lol
