my very first ever pet, was a large green mantis at the age of 3, I sucessfuly kept it and fed it for 5months , and mom finaly made me let it go at five. I opened its tiny critter keeper, and put it on my finger, turned to momma sad because I didnt want to let it go, then let out a shriek and successfully threw it several yards away as the little once loved pet tried to consume my finger tip, still got the scar, loved bugs ever since ;)

Nice story I especially like the love bug part haha. I've been fascinated with bugs for a long time and just recently after finding a Queen Leaf Cutter ant decided I wanted to get different kinds of insects and raise them. I see some beetles running around my back yard a lot, I am going to attempt to capture them and get them id'd so I know how to raise them accordingly. On a bit of an off topic sidenote. Malhavoc are you Wiccan? If so Merry Meet, if not... well then if not then I just feel like an idiot.

Ok dont hand feed mantis , Bad idea :wall:

The damn thing tried to eat me  it had hold of the top of my thumb with its claws , I had to hold its head back with my other hand!!, it didnt get to eat any of me But it was not for want of trying , took me damn 15 minutes to get it back off!

KIDS DON'T TRY THIS AT HOME!

Of all the praying mantises that I've held, seen, and played with in my life time ( 15 years ) I've never tried to hand feed a praying mantis. Well at least you learned your lesson. Sorry it had to be the hard way. Other then that they're friendly insects. :D

.....Now I know how to scare the living crap out of some local enemies! Ha...ha....ahaa.....MWAHAHAHAHA! ;P Man this turns out to be both a good and a bad thing! W00T! I would like to thank you for that since it will come in handy in the future.

*Writes this down for future reference* Thankies! :D

Well I've held lots of praying mantises ( can't remember what species they were ) and that never happened to me. I guess I'm just the lucky one huh? :D
