Hi Paige,
Mantids are yearly species. They take about 6 months to reach adult and then maybe another 6 months with a few small exceptions. They are basically like stick insects. To bad......

Did you go to the Hillsboro show last week end?
LLL Reptile have a few mantids. I wanted to but a few Malasian dead leafs but they did not have any. They get HUGE.
I did pick up 5 avicularia Yellow Banded pink toes for $20.00. I am keeping them all together in a small bottle. Awesome for the money.

I missed the show since I was setting up my house for the spider social Holley and I had. You should have come by, we're having the next one in March.

Sounds like you got some nice deals at the show.

Most of the mantid species found in north america only live for a total of 5-8 months.

some exotic species such as the Sphodromantis sp. can live for a total of 5-12 months
