Malaysian Cherry Legs, all dehaani?

Hey guys,

Are there Malaysian Cherry Legs (aka Malaysian Cherrys) out there that aren't S. subspinipes dehaani? I'm going through all my pedes and so far I'm thinking I've got three subspinipes dehaani (if all Cherries are in fact dehaani's), one subspinipes subspinipes and I'm not to sure on what variant the Indonesian Yellow leg is at the moment (just classified as S. subspinipes).

But anywho, all Cherries are dehaani as well correct?

yes, most of them.. Ss. dehaani "malaysian cherry red"

but no... few experts also say about Ss. subspinipes "cherry red."

'cherry red' is actually not a name to identify a species but for the coloration.

and you know Ss. subspinipes, such species has countless colorforms in the world.

but as for Ss. subspinipes 'cherry red'...not too many.

so we can hardly find Ss. subspinipes 'cherry red.'

ps: i heard this knowledge from Steven Lenaerts, the expert in belgium.

Cool, that's what I was kind of thinking, but wanted to see if I was on the right track.

Thanks Locke. I appreciate it!

expert ? no :embarrassed: :embarrassed: :embarrassed:
no no no, just a scolopendra-freak :p :D

it's rather simple to see if you have the subspec.
Sc.subsp. dehaani or a Sc.subsp. subspinipes in front of ya:
(that's if you are sure you have a Scolopendra subspinipes in the first place)
Sc.subsp. subspinipes has 2 or 3 spines on the ventral side of the prefemur of the ultimate legs, Sc.subsp. dehaani has none. and like Locke said, colors don't mean a thing.
