I love the webbing they produce my favorite of all and the burrow systems
OBTs and GBBs are much better webbers in my experience, if only keeping the one T, these are definitely better options for webbing than a single balfouri, if talking about a communal then yeah the balfouri web setups are cool.

Yes that's a fantastic keeper and I did that's actually where I first got my research from love how calm he is great teacher
then cut your expectations by 3/4. That will give you a better chance of success. He is a master breeder. He has access to supplies and has a tarantula room with excellent specs.

minimize your losses by going smaller. Grow from what you will learn.

and if you can live and accept it going bad, then you can try it.

his communal was started with sac mate slings. Consider that.

Yes definitely communal not singular

Yes his were same the same sac and I'm willing for mistakes to be made just limit those mistakes from learning of course

Read the post linked about the great balfouri communal debate.

if you want the best chances to start a communal, you start with sac mates. That is how communals, in CAPTIVITY, started. Through breeding projects.

introducing juveniles, that did not grow communaly, will increase risk of failure.

how many fit in that? I don’t know. It depends on your tolerance for losing tarantulas. I would say 5.

daves little beasties has a crazy communal video. Did you see it?

and my issue with that is you'll wind up line breeding them. I see nothing good coming from breeding siblings, I'm sure it happens in the wild but it's typically a genetic no-no
Personally I do not breed any siblings.

the point you bring up is rarely spoken of, in the debate. But it is worth considering. for those who want to go there.

all slings of such communals, need to be adversited as such. To avoid weakening the lines, in the long term.

we can only hope war ends and research starts again in Yemen. What a great day that will be.

many of us own spiders that are probably a lineage of sac mates. We have yet to know how that affects the health of tarantulas.

i know that, if i could have a certified guarantee, of getting a male and female from seperate dna, i would pay extra and chose that.

It's actually pretty easy to locate and remove mature males.....it's not like they molt and start breeding instantly.....they need to harden up and generally don't start making sperm webs until a couple week after maturing

well that also puts things in perspective.

an ethical keeper would keep an eye out for these things. And that would solve the issue of unnecessary eggsacs.

and even if one missed the male, one could cancel an eggsac.

in all regards, i would look for these things. I cant assume everyone else sherlocks these things.
