Hi, I was rehousing my sling Grammastola Pulchra and it bolted and I accidentally put down my catch container a little too hard and one of his legs came off:eek: I got him into his new enclosure and he seems to be running around fine and isn't impaired at all when it comes to movement. Will the leg grow back and will my little guy be okay? He's on a diet of prekilled crickets now and his abdomen is fat so I'm thinking he might molt soon. Only about 1.3cm :(

Don't worry. The leg will regenerate over subsequent molts. No problem.

Ahhh this is one of my fears. They can, as I understand, self amputate a leg and stop the bleeding. Don't worry!

see leg 1 on the left side (left front leg)?
this is a regenerated leg after one molt, after the next molt it will look normal again i guess.
bigger spiders need more molts to "rebuild", smaller spiders less.

Ooph, that's one of my paranoias when I'm rehousing. It'll grow back, should grow back pretty quickly too with it being so small. My B. hamorii lost 2 legs before I bought them due to a mesh lid. Here's what they looked like a molt later. They're currently in heavy premolt and I'm expecting them to finish regrowing the legs this time around.

Two legs will grow back in its place, freaky. :troll:

OP- Don’t feel too bad. Allegedly someone closed the lid on a leg and a day later realized this when he found the leg sitting on the web. I can’t say who, I like to protect my sources.
