Ebay rules still prohibit selling live animals, but they have some exceptions, including "crickets, worms, or other herbivorous insects as long as they're intended to be used for bait or food for pets." A lot of people will sell insects (or other inverts) under the guise that they are "feeders" - even when they clearly are not.

See, for example, this listing for White-spot Assassin bugs: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Assassin-B...ean-Up-Crew-Insect-Vivarium-Real/323648983361 that includes the phrase "Per Ebay Policy these are being sold as feeders wnat you decide to do with them after delivery is your choice."

I see that the guy selling the centipedes isn't even bothering to make that much of an effort. I guess he just figures that ebay is such a big place, with so many vendors and listings, that he is unlikely to get caught.

I should have known. Whenever there's a rule, someone will bend it, break it, or use it to their advantage.

Heh... I'm glad someone else noticed the ad because other day (a month ago or so) my significant other told me i wasn't allowed any new invert purchases at the time, to which I said to her "i bet i could find a pede on eBay" this was a complete whim statement and I had no clue whether or not there was in fact pedes on eBay, but to my surprise there was! :cigar::smug:

I’ve seen Hottentata and a Leiurus q.. scorpions for sale on eBay as well very recently. A Fed Ex option isn’t being offered either so double whammy. Will lead to trouble.

I got my pill millipedes from ebay as "feeders". In fairness, they could be fed to something, but are so slow breeding it'd be ridiculous.

The only “clean-up crew” that I think a platymeris colony would work for would be a suspiciously recently deceased T or scorpion.

This thing only consumes millipedes though if i had polydesmids i wouldn't be feeding them off

There is snake Scolecophis atrocinctus which is specialised centipede hunter, there are some in the hobby and Scolopendra spp. are used as feeders for them. So technically I dont see problem here. :)

You can find giant African land snails on eBay, and a lot of them would ship internationally without caring about the law...

Phasmids and beetles from inside the US are one thing. As much as would like a giant African land snail, brown boxing a animal that is illegal to own in the US is just asking for trouble.

The legality of Lucanidae in California thing is a myth. The USDA regulations restrict them on the national level and therefore supersede any California regulation.
