ID please.
I found these behind bark on a stump of what looked to be cider, pine or some species of soft wood. They were burrowed down in chambers, presumably laying eggs for the upcoming year. Found in Southern Ontario, in a mixed forest near water, if that helps. They are 3/8th inch long, and seemed extremely passive, even when flying about.

Thanks,
Kruggar

You have solitary bees (Halictid Bee - Augochlora pura?). They don't have queens. Males and females mate and the female takes care of her own brood by bringing nectar and pollen to a burrow. We have a couple living around the chickweed and dandelions here. Usually I find their tiny holes right under stones.

D'oh! of course these are bees, no waist! Foggles the mind how I missed that. Thanks for the ID :D.

They are beautiful little ladies.

I love the look of them. Perhaps you should grab a few for me. ;)

We had a large amount of Andrenid Bees living in my front yard in Calgary, but I never decided to rear them. I loved how passive they were.
