I have recently brought a liocheles australasiae Which is about 2cm in length and can grow to around 3cm in length. At the moment it is in a 40x30x30 tank and is moving around to the various using spots, however I am not sure if it would be happier in a smaller tank.

Yep for sure, that's a massive tank. It will be much easier to feed and manage in a smaller tank

at such a tiny size it will be fine in a smaller enclosure... will be able to keep track of it easier as well.

They also aren't particularly active scorps, so most of that space would be wasted. I kept mine in 8oz deli cups and that seemed to work out well.

I’m not sure how I would heat it’s tank if I put it in a smaller enclosure because I have a heat mat on half of the tank so there is a cooler spot. I couldn’t have a space heater because I also keep 2 pet rats in my room and they would get too hot.

You can get some quite small heat mats, I've found one on amazon which is 10cm x 5cm.

As for housing I keep some of my smaller species in 21x21x15cm komodo tanks and even that is probably more than they will use.

I kept mine at room temp and they didn't have any issues. Heat probably wouldn't hurt to speed up growth, but I don't think it's necessary to keep this species happy.

My house falls to around 18c so I have a heat mat which it also shares with a giant millipede
