I've poked around a bit, and I haven't seen anything specifically regarding the lifespans of tarantulas beyond females live longer, and B. emila (sp?) live forever. So I was thinking we could combine our knowledge of t's and produce a list of average lifespans for both sexes of species (at least as far as is known).

Or is this too big of a request from a newb like me? :) I'd mainly like to know what to expect from my little friends. I have a female adult rosie, a G. aureostriata sling, an adult A. avic (unsexed), and a A. seemani sling.

So... yeah, any info would be nice, and I figure others can add their age requests if this takes off. Thanks in advance!

Where was this site when I needed it?

Wow, thanks for the informative stuff. Am I really late, as in last to know or was this site well-hidden? I see so much info about lifespans and such that I wish I had a magic ball to know how much of it to rely on in the future. Speaking of lifespans, my male a.avicularia just completed his post-ultimate moult, any ideas on how long he's got? :worship:
This might sound silly but did his life totally suck because I couldn't find a female in time for him? I tried, actually, i bought him thinking he was a juvie female, as a girlfriend for my elder one (now deceased as the 2 men got in a fight in a communal setting - the one that's alive now had his palps ripped off and the other one was left swinging, with his one leg attached to the aboreal platform i made of sideways coconut shell).
Anyways, I bought a new female a.avic a few months ago but since "junior" had no palps left after the big brawl, there was no need to put them together, and she's still real small anyways. It's hard to find a female avic, at least that's what i think.
But my Q related to lifespan is this: Would he have had a chance at a longer life if I'd have let him mate? please dont laugh at me, I'm no newbie, but I don't know everything.
thanks

I always feel bad if I have a male I can't find a female for. As to your living longer question, I don't know that mating would or would not prolong his life. It certainly wouldn't if he got munched!
