Big enough?
Ha! So i'm not the only one! 20241109_183406.jpg

I was pointing exactly that, bigger enclosures give you more flexibility
Exactly. But yes, you loose a littlebit controle. And you have to make the enclosure slingproof. Depending on the species, controled feeding is required.

But it's impossible to say, if this solution is the right one. For me, to raise a single sling, it is. I feel confy with that and never had an issue and raised many slings with that technique.

For a breeder? Nah, never ever.

Feeding wise never had any issue as you can see...
Yeah haha. Especially for this "fire-and-forget" Tarantula!

 ofc there are more people who think this way

it boggles my mind that the two of you haven't hit it off years ago

it is much easier to create a variety of microclimates in larger enclosures

large terrariums like that are expensive though and not everyone has the space or easy access to cheap float glass, so only very few people build their own

i know i have tried getting some panes for a reasonable price, no such luck

@Alveus, what is that palm like plant in there, a Mimosa sp.? It looks like a scale model of one. :drooling: Creates the perfect jungle vibe. You are an artist.

Sali Wolfram!

I'm doing this for years! The only reason why i put slings in small enclosures is because the big one is not ready (Unexpectet buys)

The space is one thing. Most of my tarantulas also live in normal sized enclosures. Exept for the slings.

The access for cheap glas is an other thing. I go to bigger recycling companis or window companies and ask if i can have some windows, they throw away.
They give them always for free.
Works atleast in switzerland.

But learn to cut glas properly is a pain in the a**

Thank you!
A lot of those plants are from a botanical garden. And you will never see them fore sale. But a frinde of mine works as gardener there and when they maintain the tropicalhouse, i can get the cuttet of plants sometimes.

the one you mentiones is Biophytum sensitivum. Relatet to mimosa ssp. You can buy them, but they're senistiv to humidity changes and they are reaaaaaly pesty. They throw around (literally) alot of seed and i have a lot to do with getting the seedlings out.
But yeah i have them exactly for the palm like loock. But they would crowd a enclosure in no time for sure.
