I am so excited, since I reduced the population of c. sculpts over the summer, for the time I am seeing lizards! I love the lizards that run around here. About 2 weeks ago I saw a huge fat one, and now I am seeing little babies running around. :) That leads me to believe that the scorpions were winning the battles against each other and kept killing the geckos? Or do you think this is just coincidence? I'm so excited! I really missed seeing geckos at this house! They are so freaking cute! Well, scorpions are too...in their own scorpion way.

I love how they do "pushups" on the block wall! Where do you live now in Arizona?

:( Shouldn't you be doing homework?
So.. you eliminated the scorpions in your area? May I ask why?

and, also, why would you post this here? this has more to do with the increasing lizard sightings, than scorps...

I posted here because I know people on this board, but not on the other boards. I thought they could provide me with some insight. If that answers your question, Blissful one.

She didn't reduce the population for all of Arizona, but the population in her kitchen sink, bathroom, bedroom, the walls inside her home, the scorpions on her couch and anywhere else they use to hang out and sting her.
Scorpions are neat, fun to watch in an enclosure, spiffy to see out while taking a walk, fun to chase and hunt. But they SUCK to have in your home. (I know, cause I have the same problem)
She shifted the alpha creature, so now more lizards are romping around her yard, where as before it was scorpions. I'm jealous!!! And think it's neat that she share it with us. Plus she's been sending out all her scorpions to people on this board, personally, I'd love to have one of her lizards!!!!!!!!! LOL!!!

Soon you'll be mailing geckos to people here! With the Scorpions wiped out in your year, house, walls, etc, Geckos will soon overrun your home!;P

If it's doing pushups on the wall,I doubt it's a gecko. I have some HUUUUUUGE lizards out here that are gorgously colored that do pushups on the wall,in the street,on the house, you get the idea.......They might be Whiptails of some sort......

its not so much a matter of the scorpions were killing off the lizards, and now that youve decreased the scorpions more are surviving, its more that the scorpions were outcompeting the geckos. if the scorpions were efficient enough predators, then they consumed the majority of the prey in and around the house, and therefore with all the scorpions around their wasnt enough prey items left over to support a decent sized population of geckos, but now that the scorpions have been removed, the amount of prey has increased and a larger population of geckos can be sustained since they dont have to compete against the scorpions any more. i think that any casualties on either side would be relatively small in number, and would mostly consist of adult geckos feeding on young scorpions and maybe occasionally adult scorpions eating juvenile geckos.

Don't be rude if she isn't totally enthusiastic about her local scorpion populate. There are millions of home owners in the U.S. alone that have chosen to exterminate their homes from insects on up to snakes. At least she supported the captive invertebrate hobby by shipping them out at no profit to herself. Would you rather she have killed them like 99.9% of home owners? I'm sorry but if my scorpions weren't safely tucked away in their own enclosures, I'd see them as pests too, as would 99% of others. I'd be willing to wager that at least one time in your life, you put out a glue trap or set ant traps.

TBH

Pandinus, I love how you look at things so logically. Thank you! That was informative and makes sense

Brett - Maybe geckos is wrong? They are just those plain old small gray colored ones. No pretty colors, just cute. Perhaps just lizards? I need to go over to that section of this board and start learning more about them.

Orchid and Thomas, Thanks. :) :)
