My tap water is from a natural spring on this property, the same water that feeds the lush little swamp out back, so I might not even need to buy bottled water if I get some.

I assume the delicup has a lid? How big are the air holes? Or does changing the water give it enough new air? They can squeeze through anything.

You should try to get hold of Haementeria ghilianii, the ultimate leech. They are raised for medical purposes, but are more rare than the Hirudo medicinalis.

The giant leech with the barbed proboscis? That would be pretty fantastic, yes...but I still don't know how to get any leeches, and I can't imagine how you'd really keep one of those.

I would definately want the largest leeches possible, though.

This place sells live Ribbon leeches for use as bait, but they don't even tell you how many come in each pack:

And they aren't concerned with giving out latin names, obviously.

Welp, I made a chicken today, so I took the whole baggie of gizzards, stuffed it into a soda can (with the top cut off), pinched the can half-shut over it, made a small hole in the side with a thumb tack, threaded a wire through it, and tossed it into the bog. The other end of the wire is tethered to an actual anchor I had lying around on the shore.

I'm hoping to at least see some planaria.
