the green leech is most likely the draconis leech it's the one they use medicinally.

Isn't Hirudo medicinalis the leech that is used medicinally, hence the name?
We dissected some at my university and they had a green stripe in the middle and orange stripes on the sides, so they fit to the description of minu.
Here they are available or at least orderable at some pharmacies.
They can be kept alive in clear water in the fridge for more than a year, and can be fed with pieces of beefheart (or your own blood).
