Vitalius (Nhandu) chromatus....they are just a genic wannabe šŸ¤£

Back story:
I have never warmed to these and I am convinced it goes back 25+ years ago when I first wanted an Acanthoscurria geniculata soooooooo badly.

This is before the growth of Internet sales and you had to wait snd hope your local pet shop would get your dream spider. "Brazilian White Knee" sling (tiniest sling I had ever had at that stage) was how described so thought I had finally got my dream T.

Nope! It was a Nhandu chromatus and ever since I just cannot warm to them at all.
Aww man. That really stinks. How long did you have to wait before you realized?

About 6 months. Was a tiny dot when I got it.
All good though, I have since had plenty of genics including my queen, 'Genie' who was just amazing šŸ–¤šŸ¤
Thereā€™s another case over here where someone sold Nhandu slings as A. moderatum slings figuring that nobody could tell the difference at that size. Turns out nobody could.

Wow! That's shocking. TBH, if you got a sling less than 1cm it could be almost anything so can see how some will take advantage.
Mine was a genuine mistake I am sure and shows the pitfalls of "common names". I know a lot more now than I did back then too, so it's all learning šŸ˜Š

Truly an unfortunate tale, understandable though. I started with a pair of V chromatus twins and they bring me much joy to this day. Although, I wanted V chroma when I got them. I can totally see them being wannabe A genic, V chroma are like the budget version šŸ¤£. Something about the colours though.

I can appreciate V chromatus and if you look at them they tick all the boxes in terms of size, colours, attitude etc. My mind cannot process that though due to what I had built up in my head at the time as being my dream T (A genic), and then the realisation that's not what I had.

Don't get me wrong I can see the attraction and there are many people who appreciate them šŸ˜Š

Very fair. If I had received a T which was not as advertised, I'd be rightly upset and probably put off in general...I sure love me some V chroma though šŸ˜…

This summer I went on vacations a lot. Left the home for periods of 7-14 days.

and guess what, my tarantulas were visible more then ever. Considering it is summer here, which would mean ideal growth season, the absence of my interventions has made my tarantulas more bold.

i will be keeping an eye on my least visibles: reducing my presence.

my Nhandu color is now a nice yellow cococoir mold enclosure. Even if it is not harmful, it does mame me gag.

i started offering smaller food aswell. My most timid feeders have become jaws
