Learning to sex T's (book lungs)

Ok I have been doing alot of research and looking at pictures and I was wondering I was told there is a way to tell by looking at the book lungs? what is this all about?

I think it has something to do with how far apart the book lungs are spread.

I think males have a narrower space between thier book lungs than females do... not sure.



I'm not sure it's reliable.



The best way to sex a Tarantula is to look at a former moult. Look at the spermathecae, it will give you a posotive result. you can also look at the Epiandrous fusillae. this is a pretty good way to do it too. anyway i'm not to great with T's so I'll shut up now.

U should be looking at the epigastric furrow or whatever. Not the book lungs. Its the little patch between the book lungs. The shape can help you sex the T. Or an old molt as stated by calum. If you search, you can probably find a nice little diagram showing you how to tell the diff.

look for the dark hair patch between the book lungs. should be in a semicircle shape.

i've also noticed that the male will have what looks like a "dot" in between the book lungs, but i don't know if that's always accurate.

and yes, as calum said, the best way is to check for the spermathicae, bursa copulatrix, and uterus externus. All of these are girly parts.

the pic of the female blondi in that pic is excellent, you can even see the shape of the spermathicae in smaller pic in the left hand corner.
