Hey, everybody! I've got an epically nOObish question about juvenille L. mactans. Here goes... When in their development do they start showing their hourglass. I've only ever seen adults, so I have no idea. Thanks in advance!

to expound a little, you can see the overall shape of the hourglass from the 1st instar. the glass seems to get darker overall as time goes by, and gets very deep red the closer she gets to maturity. remember, not all spiders will exhibit an hourglass though. some spiders are "glassless." you can find pics of such spiders throughout this forum.

I haven't got one yet, but the airport where my dad works has a hanger full of them. :D So I'm going out there one weekend with some kritter keepers, and getting some! {D Oh, and they're mactans
