Latrodectus dahli

Can someone tell me the differences between Latrodectus trededimguttatus and L. dahli ?

Well, the dorsal pattern of tredecimguttatus is the obvious difference, but as we know, they don’t have any dorsal pattern in parts of Africa. I wonder if the hourglass is a way to tell them apart. I know tredecimguttatus has a similar pattern to menavodi. Size may also be a difference.

As usual, the most reliable way would be to use a microscope to analyze the reproductive organs.

I have bought slings from someone who has took 2 cocoon's from Marokko. The female where he took the cocoon from was totally black, but both widows get darker with age. So it can be both.. Latrodectus cf trededimguttatus/ cf dahli “marokko” This is one of the female slings if got..

sorry for reviving an almost 8 year old thread but all specimen shown here are tredecimguttatus, dahli males are yellowish-brown and females have long straight setae as opposed to tredecimguttatus s curled ones + hourglass almost never exists in either and is usually absent or just a red spot above the spinerets
