Just curious, whats the largest thing you can feed an adult emporer?? I heard of small mice, what about lizards??

Also, is there anything you can put in with an emporer that would fight it toe-toe?? Maybe emporer vs. tarantula?? Not that I would do it because I wouldn't want my emporer to die, but you know just curious. I just got my first scorpion 2 days ago, it's a baby emporer about 2 inches long. I'm reading up on them on here good info.

everything and anything equal to smaller size. Be care ful what u choose though because it can injure the scorp if aggresive enough. I wouldnt advise trying to match it off against any other creature or you will end up with a dead something, Introduce a 2nd emp into the tank and they will have an initial fight and continue to bicker for likely a few more hours, it is very interesting and some of the most interesting behavior you can observe as far as i can tell. After they fight they probably wont again. Also There is osmeone on the boards who feeds Rats, Larger then the scorp itself to its Heterometrus spinifer.

Welcome to the boards! Just so you know, there a lots of people that take strong offense to the idea of feeding tarantulas to your scorpion, but since your new I doubt they'll give you much trouble. As far as big prey, ive heard that some of the larger roaches can actually put up a fight without really putting your scorpion in any danger. I fed a potatoe bug (Jerusalem cricket) to my Heterometrus once, which was entertaining. I've plugged the link once before, but it's been a while so here it goes again http://www.scorpion-realm.co.uk/videos.htm
rodents are a bad idea since they have sharp teeth, and the scorp would probably leave a mess.

I can't see anyharm in feeding emps with small mice or small lizards. Since they eat them in the wild too. Anyway. Atleast in here it's illegal to use live vertebrates as food.

I agree with Sardon, but here in Norway feeding live pray that has 4 legs or less is considered illegal. (Unless it is an insect that has lost a few limbs...)

I bought my Emp a $6 dinner. An Anole!!! it was about 5-6 inches . The Emp ate it with in one night. then it was Stuffed . But i have fed my smaller emps Pinky mice and fuzzy rats that are about the same size as they are. usually only the head is left.I mostly feed them Crickets. But now i have 6 new Emps so i am gonna have to find something besides crickets.

Hiya all. Ok this topic comes up quit a lot. There is no real benafit in feeding your scorp inverabrets. They get all the funn and nurishment out of insects. Invertebrats leek to much, and leftovers quickly go off atrackting mites, and smell. Not that im against it, i feed my scorps a pinky once a year, but you must be prepaird to do some cleaning. I take great care in verying my scorps diet, the main diet are crickets, but i also feed them, roaches, locust, worms, Spiderlings on ocations, and i have 2 female madagascan hissing roaches preped for this weekend. Dont be blikerd into wanting a fight between your scorp and its prey.

hehe, i wasn't asking about the benefit to the scorpion of eating a vertebrate, I'm asking for the awesomeness factor, :D .

Maybe I'm sick, but I want to see my scorp devastate some vertebrates, I'll clean up the bodies when he's done.

Ok yes i did mean Vertabrat:8o :8o , my bad, I would seriasly think before placeing a mouse in with a scorp. Compaire weapons, Yes inevitably the scorp will win, but those verminn teath are designed to slice through some pritty tough stuff. You can get the same standoff/fight by introducing large insects, without the risk of injery to your scorp.

and from what I understand you have to put up with the noise. Imagine what it sounds like when something just starts eating another animal alive.

I watched my sub-adult emp struggle with an adult discoid for like 45 min. Very neat to watch but it turned my scorp into a cigar with legs.
