Landlord planning to spray insecticide outside my apartment

Are my tarantulas in danger INSIDE from pesticides applied to the OUTSIDE walls of my apartment building? I'll have the windows and doors shut... but need to know if I need to seal off the tarantula and cricket enclosures. Anybody have experience with a similar situation? I have made it clear that there are to be no pesticide sprays in my home.

As long as I'm at it... are tarantulas in any danger from Combat roach bait in the home? I'm assuming that as long as the spider doesn't eat a roach from my house all will be well.

Yes, your T's are in danger from the spray. That stuff will get tracked in on your clothes and will leak in from the hallway if not your own windows. I would reccommend moving them to another location until a week after the effective period of the pesticide put down. As in, if the spray says it protects from wasps/ants/whatever for 2 weeks, keep your T's away for 3.

The roach bait should be fine unless you have a bad roach infestation with roaches climbing up to where you keep the T's and crickets. It's the airborne stuff that'll get T's.

I've had outside my house sprayed and the inside sprayed with a liquid and not a mister/fogger. They used the inside spray sparingly and did not spray in the room with my Ts.

All of my Ts died within one week. :liar:

Just kidding, they were fine, and still are fine 6 months later. I would say outside is fairly safe, but it depends on the chemicals, their amounts, and seepage into the house. I wouldn't let the Ts come into contact with anything from the outside.

If it concerns you and you can find a new location for them to vacation, go for it. If it were me, I'd stand my ground. Good luck.

Make sure that that is absolutely 100% clear. I was talking to someone about Ts at a petstore a few weeks ago, and he said this happened with his Mexican Redleg. He had made it clear with apartment management that no indoor spraying was to be done, both verbally AND with a note on the door on the day of the scheduled spraying. They sprayed inside anyway, and he came home from work to find his beloved T dead.
