Hey all,
My parahybana molted yesterday night, and I was able to snap some shots of the process. I've had this spider for just over a year now, I got it as a 3/4" spiderling, and it has molted 7 times since. I estimate it is about 7" now, and to my surprise, it's a female! I took the cast skin away quickly, so I could sex it.
Here are the pics:
#1: The making of the molting web, 1 day prior to the molt (27-5)

Arachnojoost,
How long did it take to get up to 7"??? Months or years (see thread entitled "L. Parahybana(Brazilion salmon pink) questions?" - I replied with questions in regards to growth rates.)

Thanks,
Mike G.:?

Just out of curiousity, why are you surprised it's female?

I bought it in April last year as a 3/4" sling, In the beginning it molted every month and now with intervals of about 3 or 4 months. So it took a year and 1 month to get from 3/4" to 7". You can see the exact molting dates at: http://www.spidertalk.net/SpiderTalk/ms_view.php?sid=244
greetz,
Joost

edit: Defour: I thought it was a male because of underside sexing, I thought I saw epiandrous fussilae (sp?) with my magnifying glass. Seems I don't exactly have that technique down yet...;)
