Hmm..I've never seen a tarantula actually burst from being too fat, but if you keep fattening her/him up like that you'll want to at the very least make sure there's no way for her/him to fall and bust her/his abdomen.

I had a gravid female that liked giving me a heart attack by climbing on the screen lid. I had her substrate up plenty far to avoid any falls and then she decides to freak me out by being a freakin' acrobat!!

I would say if he's hungry feed him. He may turn out really big after his next molt. I've also noticed individuals of this species eating like pigs clear up to within days of their molt.

It's your call really.

Anyone ever had a tarantula actually burst from overfeeding? I've always thought it not possible. I think I may have heard of one incident of a E. pachypus female bursting from being fat, but I also think it was from a fall. So the falling part would be my main concern.

Best wishes,

Paul

well, i have a cheese ball container thats pretty large that hes in untill his next molt he cant climb the walls really, he climbs his flower pot, and sits out in the open, the only time he goes down is when he roams at night or when i throw food in then he jumps off and pounces on it as soon as it hits the ground, i have decided to only feed him a couple large crickets a week just to be safe or will that even make a diffrence?

a cricket is pretty much like an snack to these big beasts, lol! When I toss mine a cricket she looks at me like, "what!? is this all I'm getting!?!" lol! but then that could be me anthropomorphizing (or whatever it's called when you attribute human traits to an animal) hehe!

But you need to do what you think is best in this situation. Me, I tend to feed them what they'll take. L. parahybana in particular has a HUGE appetite! But even my big fem will let me know when she's had enough!

Let us know the size difference once yours molts!!

Best wishes,

Paul
