Saw this Chromatopelma cyaneopubescens at a great LPS I discovered... had to buy him/her! They had about 30 T's there!

Great addition, GBBs rock. Looks like s/he might be coming up to a moult soon too judging by the colour of that bald spot. Should look stunning for you pretty soon :)

ooh, a molt would be nice.. it'd be my first one!

In the deli cup she came in, she had a tube web that pulled up all the vermiculite substrate all into a ball...

After I moved her to her new habitat I put together in 10 minutes, i dug around in the vermiculite out of curiousity... found parts of an exuvium, but I couldn't find the opisthosma part of it...found the carapace and then two pieces of the prosoma, split in half each with 4 legs...

wonder if the opisthosoma section was eaten, or was removed from the container (pet store cleaning only what they saw... or... removing it if they saw it was a male??? dont think they would do that, they seemed pretty cool there)

Great find there buddy. Beautiful specimen of a T. My favorite!

If you don't mind me asking, where is this LPS that you discovered?
Bet it's way too far for me to visit. Some people find all the nice stores.

Outstanding, thanks for sharing your pics., and enjoy.

Take a good look at your enclosure. In a few days it will be a solid mass of webbing. Nice looking T.

I love my GBB. She is always out and is easy to take care of. Congratulations.

Unless the molt is recent, the opisthoma shrivels up really small and is next to impossible to use for sexing. If she was under 2" on her last molt, it would have been a little hard to sex unless you have an eye for it. Just wait until the next molt. if you aren't sure, you can send it to Nerri to put it under the scope for you.

Burien, WA... I'm guessing a lil too far! ;)

You can try to do what I did...
Find the local wholesale dealer/breeder who supplies the stores around you. I was searching for pet stores and found a zoological supply company... and asked for a referral to a decent store that carries T's...
The supply company won't sell to the public, but gave me a few places to try...

Thanks for the advice guys :)
S/he's already been working hard on the webbing... I'll take some pictures after she's had a chance to do some decorating
She ate a cricket today, so I'm guessing there's still a little time before the next molt.

I've been wanting my G. rosea to molt, I'm curious as hell what it is!

My GBB just molted!

I went to check on my T's before I went to work today...my GBB was just chillin on the side if it's enclosure... then all of a sudden... just sort of "fell" onto it's back.

It sucks that it started right before I had to go to work... but I am glad that I at least got to witness the flip!
It was so obviously a premeditated motion... I could just see the T KNEW what it was doing...

Here's some pics... the flipped ones I snapped right before I left for work, the others I just took

It looks like it has it's adult coloration now

I'm going to wait til tomorrow to pull the exuvium... unless I catch her away from it tonight... then I can hopefully sex my first T!

Oh, and I JUST got her and the enclosure... now it looks like its time to move her on up!

She/he looks GREAT!!! They look so cute and rubbery right after they molt. Glad to see it was successful! Molts are so exciting and scary at the same time, you can't wait to see what they look like and yet you're worried that they won't make it all the way. Let us know how the sexing goes! {D

Looks great, beautiful colors.

Have to ask, what is the orange stuff in a couple of the pics? Looks like cricket gel. I could see in another pic, the T has a water dish, so I am assuming it's not for him/her.

(IMO, doesnt' really need to be in there, especially if the crickets have a water source in their holding container.)

oh, yeah... the reason for that is there was a cricket in there when my T flipped, and I tried to get it out but it was hiding under the driftwood under webbing... there was no way I could get it out without seriously disturbing the T, so I had to leave it in... I figured if I put some cricket food in there, it would hopefully keep the cricket from trying to munch on my moulting T...

Congrats and what a beautiful T!! No you aren't at adult colors yet, not until there is no black left on the abdomen, and yours still has some. Probably one more moult. You should have some really lovely coloring on the legs now as soon as he or she dries.

I am suprised at how SMALL that piece of exuvium is... it's so difficult to take pictures of.
I also accidentally pulled it off the prosoma, so I hope enough is still intact to sex with.
Following are the best pictures I could get... including more than just sexing pics, pics of the rest of it too...

once it dries off I am gonna try to take a couple more sexing pics... it sucks that I could take a good picture of the top piece of the opisthosoma, but not the bottom...
