I found this kind of funny at first, but now I think it’s sad. Why are they allowed to put this in a care sheet? Impulse purchases at pet stores are bad enough, but when the information is setting the owner up for failure as well? Think of all the tarantulas that have been killed by this false information. I don’t understand who writes these things and why they are allowed to.

Sad that this is true. Some things are really basic knowledge too, like you don't keep Ts in enclosures with mesh lids... yet at the petstore near me they ALWAYS have their Ts (when they're in stock) in enclosures that are too tall with mesh lids. (And for some reason all their lizards are in enclosures too small for them so why in the world would you put your Ts in ones that they don't need size-wise when your other animals could clearly use that space.)

Also I know from talking to a shift manager at the petstore I go to that.... literally nobody working there, including the STORE MANAGER, is comfortable with handling (or even opening) the enclosure of a tarantula or scorpion..... which is just ridiculous to me. Why would you sell animals you're not even comfortable caring for.

Was in there a while back picking up some crickets for a change in feeders. Girl who was in there knew I kept T’s. Had recently picked up avic avic for my gf as she has gotten into T’s. While being rung up, she was asking me questions, then proceeded to ask if my avicularia had begun to burrow yet. I was like yep... they’ll do that haha.
Damn, mine hasn't yet. It keeps hanging around the top of the enclosure and webbed up the fake leaves. I must be doing something wrong.

My favourite question is when they ask me if my Tarantulas are venomous. (they do not sell tarantulas at my local pet store.)
