Jumping spider doesn’t have grip or jump

I’ve had my Phidippus pius for about a month now (hes about 3 months old) , since I’ve had him he hasn’t settled anywhere in his cage and has barely webbed anywhere. He spends all of his time on the back wall or on the rocks on the floor even with lots of climbing places. And he has almost zero grip and stumbles around everywhere falling off things. I’ve also never once seen him jump!
He has eaten twice but with massive intervention (partially squishing the fly and holding him to it). He drinks a lot of water. I just don’t know what could be wrong with him or if it is just how he is? Does anyone have any advise? Thank you

Can we see a picture of him, as well as his enclosure?.

Has he molted for you yet?

Do his movements otherwise look purposeful?

For tarantulas, less stick is a sign of impending molt. Can’t imagine it’s any different for jumpers

Less grip is a sign of premolt and old age for jumpers. Do you know how old he is? Would you be great if you could get some pics of him and the enclosure so people can get a better idea of the situation.

Sounds like a mature male. Is he one?
Edit: missed the "3 months", whether that is accurate is another story.

The only time one of my jumpers has had 0 grip was my af phidippus regius Button when she got to 3 n a half years old n started not being able to grip the plastic, even in premoult my others get slippy feet but not to the point they live on the ground, only Button did that once old age kicked in.
Can I ask op if you know if your jumper is wild caught or if they were bought as a sling? Just because you have only had them 3 months doesn't mean they are 3 months old and this info can matter.
As a side note you can always try some pollen to give your little one a boost, I have been told honey water helps too just a little bit offered on a q tip but both are ment to boost energy for your little friend.
Pics would help though without seeing the size of the spooda n abdomen size n the enclosure set up we can't really offer much more help.

I hope I am wrong but sounds like old age and maybe a mm like @zsiciarz said.

hes about 3 months old)
If he’s three months old, i wonder if its not a premolt thing. Do you have confirmation of age?

pictures wouls be helpful.

tarantulas get wobbly weird before a molt and after.

Welcome to the Boards,
Jumper Slipin' and a Slidin'
Could be Age and or Molt related.
Pictures would be helpful in trying to determine cause.
All the best to Spider & You.

Wow thank you guys so much for your replies!
sorry it’s been a while getting back to you I couldn’t get into my account for a bit!
I’ve now attached some photos and I’ll try my best to answer some questions.
He was given to me as a present from my boyfriend, but he got him from a reputable breeder. the 3 months is debatable but he definitely isn’t more than a few months old.
I did wonder if it was a premoult, however he hasn’t settled anywhere or made any attempt of a hammock/web. I’m getting increasingly worried about him eating as he has resfused food for a couple weeks now so I will try the honey on a Cotton bud! He has some days better than others, and some days I’m really worried about him with low energy/alertness and grip. 😢
Thanks again for your suggestions and I’ll try to keep you updated IMG_9982.png IMG_9981.png IMG_9661.jpeg IMG_9813.jpeg IMG_9975.jpeg IMG_9979.jpeg

Yes I was told he is a male!
It does look webbed in that photo for some reason but it’s not View attachment 490508
well. If he is male, then it explains a lot. He could be a scrunt. It happens.

He wont have as much vigor then a 3 month female. He might even be near the end.

just make him comfortable. And keep your expectations low.

it happens to everyone, when they get a male. Everyone gets a jumping male every now and then.

get a female next time, if you can. Or a sling. You’ll get more time.

this is all part of the natural cycle.

Oh 😥
Do you think it’s older than they told me? I thought males still lived until around a year
it can be a short time if they ate plenty and conditions were right.

not all mature males are super studs.
