Hi! A couple days ago I posted about my new jumping spider not eating but ultimately decided she just wasn’t hungry.

This morning, I saw what I’m pretty sure is an egg sac. I was only prepared for the one spider and I’m not sure what all to do to prepare for so many little ones.

I know I need to get a specific sling enclosure for them and separate them when I’m able but I can’t keep that many spiders. Where can I go about selling them/giving them away?

How long til I should expect them?

I also read somewhere that the mother dies after the babies leave the nest? Is that true?? I’ve already grown quite attached to my jumper :( B452614E-C385-4B4B-93DC-E8C347E77E1E.jpeg
sorry for bad image quality. she’s webbed that corner quite a bit and that’s the best I could get

There are factors that will contribute to a mother dying after the eggs hatch but I wouldn't say it's absolute.

Depending on the age of the mother, they may have reached the end of their life cycle, jumpers only live a little over a year.
Mothers will eat less or even not at all while protecting and caring for the sac, as such, they may be malnourished after the slings hatch.

Is she wild caught? If not, do you know if she's been bred before? - there's a possibility it could be a phantom sac if she's never been bred.

I got her from insectsales.com so I know nothing about her history.
going back to the site though, it says some may be fertile.
I’m hoping it’s just an infertile sac but preparing in case it’s not.
