Dairy cows (porcellio laevis) are very easy to care for and are super prolific breeders. They are also very cheap and easy to find for sale. Provide a 6 qt sterilite tub for a couple dozen individuals and three cork bark hides (one in the middle, one at both ends) in the enclosure. One side should have a cluster of moist moss so that the isopods can drink and not dry out. The other side should be dryer and a moisture gradient should be created, this way they can choose where they want to hide. Dairy cows are protein hungry so once they start to breed they’ll love fish food pellets, dried shrimp, and dried minnows. The substrate should be full of biodegradables like leaf litter, moss, and bark for them to eat. Russ from Aquarimax Pets (which is where most of this info is from) has a great video on these and other species. Happy keeping!

best isopod for pet?
I really like armidillidium granulatum, seem to be very friendly and look pretty basic but the yellow is very pretty. My Maculatums are not very friendly or outgoing as my granulatums, and i prefer the granulatums color more. Also not too expensive. I ordered from Isoflora (who i highly recommend!!!)
Also very easy IMO, not picky eaters and i have had 1 dead isopod for the 6 months of keeping them, and im still a new keeper.
