The egg sac of the argiopes is very simmiliar to that of a black widow starting as a pale cream colour and darkening as it matures.. only difference is sometimes its not closed al the way at the top giving it the weaved impression and its much larger.. most of the time..

Shut UP!!!!! I'm falling! ;)

Of COURSE I don't mind you answering.... cuz I sure couldn't have!! I know NOTHING about these beauties. I see where you're going with it though, do we have some arachnidial fliritng going on here? :} Ooooo, on that site, the egg sac was almost black!
Well, the curb isn't that high, right? {D But I sure would like to try it. I've seen pics where there were several males hanging around the female. I have a huge enclosure for her, so I'd like to try that out.

And kudos for the info on the eggsac!

It shouldn't be too hard if memory serves me correctly I've done it successfully in ontario canada when I was just a kid.

I used to catch these as juveniles and raise them. I love these spiders so much!! its really neat how they vibrate on their webs when disturbed.

Cellar spiders (Pholcus phalangioides) spins at the smallest distubance in its web. I feed these guys ants all the time and usually their shaking can either knock the ant off, or tangle it more. Either way it helps keep the spider safe.
