Is this a Princisia vanwerebeki or g.portentosa???
i keep this roacher w/ my others g.portentosa, is possible some kind of hybrid?

Looks like the black morph of G. portentosa.

If it is a princess roach, then there's no potential for hybrids. They're from different genera.

I can only tell the males apart. :eek:

but how can i know of it's portentosa or Princisia vanwerebeki???

They look like my G. portentosa colony. I don't think they are Princisia sp.

Princisia vanwerebeki nymphs have little white marks like nymph six spot roaches

The problem is in the taxonomy.

A few years ago, was Princisia vanwaerebecki and Gromphadorhyna portentosa, and, of course, animals whith different genera can´t reproduce. Now, there are some Taxonomist that say they are in the same genera: Gromphadorhyna princisia and Gromphadorhyna portentosa.

I think the last one is right becouse the two sp. are very similar, so, the can hybrid.

Now, I´m looking for the differences between G. portentosa and G. princisia (P. vanwaerebecki). Taxonomy use the thorns in the legs to clasiffied the roaches.

if i take some pictures of the thorns in the legs, are u able to clasiffied the roaches???
do u have something that help me to classied the roaches by myself??

Sorry, what do you ask about, is what I´m looking for.

In a week, I´m going to ask my Enthomoly teacher (I´m studyng Biology) if he can left me some ID keys.

Hi!

In my opinion they are Gromphadorhina spec. because of the round form of the Pronotum.
