If you get a species that needs a humid enclosure I recommend you get springtails or isopods. I learned real fast that a humid enclosure promotes lots of mold growth.
Unfortunately, since I've never owned a snake and I don't plan to own one (here in Italy all venomous snakes were banned decades ago when I was a children, and I'm not interested at all into the legit non venomous ones, such Boa etc) so I don't have a clue about those clampsAlright. Thanks! While we're at it, are tall plastic plants ok? Are the usual snake clamps (used for holding down the lid so a strong animal doesn't rip it free) ok, or should I pile books on top instead?
And, lastly, is a Giant 'pede's mandibles strong enough to shred the usual thick wire-screen top like a Camel Spider's are?
Isopods can and almost always will eat your 'pede when it molts. Anything larger than T. tomentosa (and I don't even trust those) can cause fatal or crippling injuries that can take years to heal. If you use something like P. scaber or Armadillidium, I recommend you remove all of the isopods as soon as possible. If you get a species that needs a humid enclosure I recommend you get springtails or isopods.
