We've had Graap (Grape) since January, and they're our first T. This weekend, they started making what I figured was a molt mat. Then today we came home and found Graap had continued working and it now looks like this. None of the pictures I've seen online show anything like the yellow part. So is Graap prepping to molt? Something different? Or something to be concerned about? 1000003314.jpg 1000003315.jpg

Looks like an unfinished egg sac

The yellow “dots” are spheres to me

Ts about to molt don’t drop anything but webbing

So what do I do now? She's still working on it, but I have no clue what to do. We've always been dog and cat people until my son wanted her.

Yep making an egg sac. Has she molted in your care? If not, it could very well be fertile.

On the plus side, there's nothing for you to do for about 45 days

Well if she completes the job and the whole process is a success then soon enough you'll forget about her molt schedule cuz you'll have hundreds of babies to watch molt and grow lmao. Most likely she was wild caught if you didn't buy her as a paired female. Unfortunate but it happens still. As of right now she's not showing normal signs of premolt tho

Being brand new to tarantulas, if diving in head first makes you feel over your head, you can start inquiring with breeders in your area if they want to take the sac. Some will buy it intact and take care of incubating and raising the slings until they can sell them.

Wow! Congrats! Thats an eggsac.

it could be fertile if your tarantula is wild caught.

much to plan now! Keep us posted.
