Is it true?

Poor old G. rosea just don't get no respect. They're boring, temperamental, overrated and shot at. One of these days they're going to take their revenge.

What? Someone asked a question that people found a bit silly about something they didn't know. O-M-G!!!!

Some inverts are built more rugged/tougher then others and they can survive impacts/falls better then other more fragile inverts. Is it really hard to then imagine that maybe some Ts could handle a fall better then others? I don't know of any tarantulas that are more drop/impact resistant but still it's not that far fetched a thing to ask is it?

@chanda did a great job of answering the question btw.
I always appreciate your level headed and patient responses. Here's the thing though @Trenor- the OP came here in April to ask if her Rosie would die after she handled the T and dropped it on the floor. Apparently the T survived. I'm just wondering why she's asking because given the context, she knows it can survive. Trolling or curiousity about how her T survived? I dunno. *shrug*

Just woken up and see this post...
What? I don't even...of course not!
Of all the weird questions i've seen this is the most....@&&_=/!# of them all.
Please keep sending 'help me, my spider is on his back'-threads...they don't seem stupid anymore at all!

You can say that Lady. When the Goddess 0.1 Pelinobius muticus PBUH (Peace Be Upon Her) will be reunited with her MIA (Missing In Action) Brother named Citharischius stridulantissimus the 'Grammos' army will do their part, and Roma (Roma, ancient Roma I mean) will rise again; standing near the great, sacred river... Roma Divina Urbs, you'll be the light for us :-s

I get that, I also remember the post. Is it related to that incident? Can we know based off the information we have? Will everything she posts from now on always be suspect because of one mistake that was made?

It's just as likely she was talking to her friend she mentioned and told them about the earlier fall and was told this:
My friend had told me that Chilean rose hairs are "bullet proof". So if you were to drop like a 7 year old G. rosea from like 5ft and onto a floor, it will still live.
Then out of curiosity she came on here to ask.

I'm not coming down on you or anyone else. It just didn't seem like that odd of a question to me. I raise Dubia roaches. Those guys could do an Ollie off a two story building and land in a concrete parking lot. Then walk it off like it didn't matter. With that in mind it seemed a reasonable thing to ask.

Either way, now she has better information then she had before coming here, which is always a win. :)

To be fair, it was goading me on. It kept saying "COME AT ME, BRO" and I finally just snapped.

For a serious response, what do you mean bulletproof? As in husbandry, or for physical toughness?

For husbandry they are more forgiving of mistakes than many species, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't keep an eye on things.

Physically I doubt there is much difference in toughness between many species. A fall is a fall, hard surface is a hard surface, and a ruptured abdomen is a ruptured abdomen. I doubt (not certain here) that there's much of a difference in the "likelihood" that an injury will occur between species. Maybe (just a guess) arboreals are slightly tougher to brace for falls better than a terrestrial could due to their nature (once again no science in that, just speculation)

I do think that a rumor of any animal being "bulletproof" or "foolproof" should be nipped in the bud asap. That may inspire lackluster care in people that hear it and don't do research

There are very, very few times in the English language (and I understand that maybe English is not your first language) where the term 'bullet-proof' is meant literally and not figuratively.
Bullet-proof vest, bullet-proof car, bullet-proof glass... and maybe a couple of others. Nothing occurring naturally on this planet will ever be bulletproof.
Everywhere else that the term is used - it is meant figuratively.

I just hope the 'Grammos' army doesn't get too demoralized by then. Let's all try to give them some positive reinforcement to keep them going until that glorious day.
