Found a reasonable size assassin bug but initially leery of offering as prey item to one of the T's. T would be considerably bigger but could assassin bug still pose it a danger??
Thanks.

The assassin bug could certainly still be a danger, one good bite could mean the end for the T as well. I also would avoid wild caught prey in general.

Yep, that's what I suspected so assassin gets to go on his way to assassinate elsewhere. Got a shipment of large Dubias en route but tracking suggests Thanksgiving may interrupt and prevent delivery until Friday and meantime my H. hainanum girl is restless and leaving her burrow and wandering the enclosure each of the past couple of nights. Was thinking of a stop-gap but not if its a dangerous one.

Tarantulas don't need to eat all that often. They can go weeks or even months without eating and not starve to death. A delay of a few days is not going to hurt her - but a meal like an assassin bug could. In addition to the risk of a bite and the injected paralytics and digestive enzymes, any wild-caught prey has the potential to be carrying parasites or sub-lethal doses of pesticides or other chemicals.
