I already posted pictures of the exterior of my roach enclosure in this thread: My New B. dubia Enclosure.
Here is a photo of the interior of the enclosure.

Almost all the roaches are hiding since I took off the lid and let the light in.

There are about 100 Blaptica dubia roaches in the enclosure, but they are hiding in the vertical cardboard flats.

I offered them part of a banana a few days ago, but they did not seem very interested. Maybe I will try giving them another one in a few days.

they go nuts for oranges, and any dark greens like bok choy... that gets expensive tho.

I cut up cantaloupes and freeze them in long slices, and then just drop a frozen slice in there every few days... they eat the whole thing rind and all!

Thought you weren't supposed to feed citrus fruits. I feed mine dog food as a staple, with an apple or some romaine once a week. Water crystals too. Mine don't seem to like banana's that much.

Edit: The first enclosure for my roaches, i got a colored rubbermaid like that, the texture on the inside ended up being enough for the babies and small juvies to get a grip on with their hooks and climb out. So I switched to a clear sterilite container and just covered it in felt. They can't climb it at all. So try and corner a baby in the corner and make sure they can't escape.

There were two different styles of the colored plastic totes at the store I purchased this one at. One style had textured sides and the other style had smooth sides. I had already taken into consideration the idea that the sides with texture would allow the roaches to climb out, so I chose the tote that had smooth sides.

Good stuff , I couldn't find a colored one with the proper texture and size at my stores, I live in the boonies though.

I was surprised to find a colored one with smooth sides. I purchased it from WAL*MART for a little less than $10, tax included.

HAHAA i thought i was the only one doing this! My girlfriend says "where did all the cantaloupe go?"....hehehehe..... lobster roaches LOVE it! You drop a piece in and as soon as they spot it, it disappears covered in roaches. Its crazy.
Cheers

B. dubia roaches do fine with citrus fruits from what I have been reading. Here are just a few linked threads about it and there are a lot more.
Fruit platter for roaches?

I've feed melon, pears, mango, oranges, apples, bananas, even coconut. Just don't feed them avocado

When I feed mine oranges I have an explosion of babies.

My dubia eat apples with gusto, other fruits that they munch on, but don't seem to enjoy quite as much as the apples are oranges, banana and berries (straw, rasp, black and blue)
Question on keep Blaptica Dubia?
Rochelle said:
Dubia do best with lots of citrus in their diet. Better production.

i have a colony of roaches as well but i use mine to feed my t's and scorps and lizards, i was under the impression that if u fed them citrus and then the other animals eat them it would have a bad effect on them is this true?
