Woooooo you got another sac!
Maybe, maybe not. At this point it's Schrodinger's eggsack lol. I'll find out in February when I uncover her enclosure next ;) .

In other news, female number one just molted out three days ago and the MM is still quite fresh (just made a new sperm web this morning in fact). Decisions, decisions...

That makes two successful sacks in a row. Guess it's time to get that breeding report written up ;).

How many babies in this one?
Unknown at this time. I have a picture of all the eggs laid out in a single layer specifically to count them, but I typically don't for awhile. I tend to wait until they begin the 2i molts to do the count so I can figure out the maximum amount of enclosures I need to have prepped.

2/21 (Day 44), darkening up for the EWL to 1i molt. It does seem like there is a bit of a fertility issue, but this is her first eggsack and I'm just happy to get one from this female. About two years ago (2 molts ago), she suffered a pretty bad crush injury to her carapace during a rehouse. If one were to go back towards the beginning of this thread, you'll see I was discussing pairing this female, but she didn't show any interest and ended up molting WAAAAY ahead of schedule. I think the presence of the male sped up her molt cycle so she could finish healing and reproduce, but that's just conjecture on my part.

3/4 (Day 55). Going off the data for the previous eggsack, I'm expecting these to start darkening up for the 1i to 2i transition in about a week.

I also have a large P. rufilata eggsack in the incubator that's going to start the 2i molt this week. I'm about to be REALLY busy :grumpy: .

Can I have some? I’ll take some off your hands in the name of altruism 🤣

Well, busy doesn't even begin to describe how I've been lol, hence why this update is quite late.

3/17 (Day 68). All have molted to 2i and were separated shortly after this picture was taken. They have since been offered food and most have already taken one meal. They'll be on the market at some point this month.

@klawfran3, final sling count was 94.

Well, that all but concludes my current Phormingochilus sp Sabah Blue project. The second female will be kept in optimal conditions and fed consistently in hopes of a double clutch to see if the species is capable of it, but with the fertility issues in her first clutch, I'm doubtful I'll see a successful second clutch. The first female molted out after her eggsack and the MM is still alive, eating, and making sperm webs, BUT I don't want to bottleneck the US genetics anymore than necessary and I want to give both females a "breather" molt to rest and recuperate. As such, I have voluntarily opted to not pair them again and retire the MM.

This project has produced a total of 226 slings for the US market. I'm hopeful that with their current availability, lower prices, the guide I wrote on raising moisture dependent slings (Found here), this breeding log, and the detailed breeding report I published here on AB, other aspiring Ornithoctoninae breeders will pick up the challenge and have even more success than I've had. I hope everyone enjoyed the journey, but now it's time for my next project(s) ;) .

Thanks,
--Matt

I have no idea when she laid it, how far along it was before I pulled it, or if it'll even end up being fertile, but it's nice to see that Phormingochilus sp Sabah Blue can double clutch.

The eggsack is in the incubator now and I'll give it a few weeks to see if she was able to fertilize them without a second pairing.

Not only was it a small eggsack, but like her previous one, there was only about a 50% fertilization rate. In the end, I was able to separate out an additional 25 slings.

This puts the total Phormingochilus sp Sabah Blue slings produced from this project at 251.

Now, barring this last female triple clutching (highly unlikely), I'll be taking a few years off from breeding Sabah Blue. Both of my females deserve a breather molt and I need to growout my holdbacks. Phormingochilus sp Akcaya and Phormingochilus pennellhewlettorum are next ;).
