I've got a versicolor coming from Swift today...is it okay to use a small infrared lamp to keep the temp at around 75-80? (Indirect exposure)
Thanks...

I've been blacklisted like Tim Robbins...that's messed up.

I've used a flourescent lamp in the past and found it literally bakes the substrate, and any crickets I put in.
If it does that to crickets, it can't be good for the spider - that's my thinking at least.

I use those blue colored lights (The ones that simulate the moon for leopard geckos and such)

But I don't put them directly on my spiders, I just set the cages next to the dome. All of my spiders will gather on the sides of their cages with the heat on it. Without it, I have difficulties keeping the temp above 70, heh.

Even my Usambara comes out more often and hangs along the wall with it (His burrow doesn't really come close enough)

I just have a floor lamp that stands directly over the enclosures but doesn't shine directly on them. Keeps the heat up, and the indirect light makes them look purrrrrty!
