I think it is just due to the ignorance of lawmakers and the general public. It is amazing how many ppl think that a T could kill you. Sure you could get a nasty bite or a face full of hairs but keeping a T is far less dangerous then say riding a bike, skateboarding or hell even walking. There has never been any deaths associated with a T bite documented. All animals have the posibilty to injure you if you do not have a basic understanding of them. Pet shop owner need to relize that if they sell a animal to person they are responsable for making sure the person is fully informed, able to take care of the animal, and at a mature age. It is our responsability to educate the masses, to retard the demonization of animals by the ignorant public.

Unfortunately, there are no laws that SAY a pet shop owner has to do any of those things. Plus, what if we DID require them to? A two-week waiting period with background checks? I wish there was an easy solution, but there isn't. I know pet shop owners who doen't even LIKE animals... it just happens to be lucrative for them!

@ wayneT what you posted on about a month ago was the "venomous pet ban" in NY state. i am still writing letters and making calls to try to get this one stopped.

I havent seen ANYTHING on VA though...maybe they saw NY's plan and like you guys said copied it...

Gah how can you not like animals? thats like saying I dont like sex..but I just guess thats another example of how humanity sees the natural world..there for exploitation to reach the ultimate goal of most of the human race: wealth.
