I'm going to Bahrain or Dubayy next spring. And I'm preparing (yes nearly half a year in advance). But I need to know what scorpions I can find there! So that I can get inport-pemits. Google came up empty handed. So?

...I just can't wait to get to the middle east again {D
Also I'm bringing a bat, no fanaticle terrorist is going to take me hostage.

Wow Peter!! That sounds like a great trip!! I wouldn't think you would have any trouble finding scorps there. Good luck ;)

Man i'm so syked about going! How venomous are those scorpions, Ythier? I wouldn't be aloud to bring back any über hot scorpions, but I would love to take some pics if I find them. Jan Ove Rein warned me about snakes, how should I avoid getting bitten? That would really suck.
I'm think some sort of lower leg pad made of metal, would that work?

Don't know but it lives in Yemen so I suppose, I'll look for it.
But, holy moly I'm not gonna get stung by it!

Peter, How long will you be staying there? I wish I could go with you :D
I'll bet if you go out at night with a black light you will see many, many scorps. I hope you get to take some home with you.(I don't recommend putting a Leuirus in your pocket though hehehe {D )

I'v live in the middle-east for half my life so I know how to take care of myself. So I wouldn't go out alone, but what do you guys recomend in ways of snake etc protection? I'm considering bringing icespray to prevent any scorpion thinking I'm cover.

I can see how that would be stupid :D . I think we will be there a week or two, but I'm not sure. Feel free to tag along. I bought me blacklight for this, the one that is for sale on a banner, it rocks! And I talk to the people that are incharge of inporting animals and they say no to über hot scorpions, and want me to call them back when I knos what species I might bring home. Also I need to find out if Bahrain and Dubayy alow export of animals.

I guess for snake protection you could get a set of snake-proof boots or chaps.

Have fun with your flashlight, You should have no trouble seeing scorpions with it. As for the boots, shop around, I am sure you can find cheaper. I think it is a good Idea to get some kind of snake proofing. A venomous snake bite would really put a damper on scorp hunting. I almost stepped on a large western diamondback when I went to arizona, my foot stepped less than 6 inches from it. I am pretty sure that the venomous snakes over there are more venomous than that. Good luck stay safe.

I've talked with customs and she said that she will go through the scorpions above and find let me inport the ones they aloud before. But I will have to find out more of the ones they didn't have on their list. Are there any LD50 sites? The one linked to on this site doesn't have most of the scorpions on Ythier's list.

and they arnt that good at identifying scorpions generally, so you could make out that the rare unexportable scorp, was really a common exportable scorp >,>
