In need of an ID of scorpions found in the mountains of Taiwan

I have previously read many years ago that Taiwan doesnt have any scorpions except a very tine species on Orchid Island in the SE of Taiwan. Fast forward to this weekend. I was in reltviely deep mountains at abotu 1400m, far away from any trais roads or othe rhuman activities and i found a baby scorpion. Excited i dumped out my waterd and put it in my bottle as it was all i had to carry it. I went home and gave it a little home. that night i also found another one in my backpack (excited in a slightly nervous way). So, these are tiny babies, and i cannot find any info of scorpions in Taiwan online.

I have 2 thoughts. 1 is maybe there are some here and we just have nto foudn them? or 2, and more likely, escaped imports. I doubt pets and i doubt recent release if thats teh case as this is about 20km as the bird flies to the nearest town and abotu 11km from the nearest road (rough guess), so they would have hitched a non human ride to those mountains or walked. Im no scorpion guru so i have no idea about how they spread etc.

Anyway, here are pics. I would LOVE any help with ID. The environment is dominated by Acacia trees. its rocky with mineral based soil and lots of leaf litter. Its always super humid, but being on slopes it never floods and the soil is usually slightly moist. Summers get pounded by super heavy rainfall.


Also bear in mine i only have 2 (I am keeping them and growing them up) and they are abotu 7mm from mouth to tail base. Excuse the picture quality, they are tiny, its night time and they move quick lol. But if you think you can ID with better pics, i will get better pics, no problem. Just mention which area is best to photograph.

That's pretty interesting! I wonder though, do you think they could be tiny but mature?

You know, that didnt actually cross my mind. I have no idea to be honest. I have kept scorps as pets, photographed bigger ones in other countries, and that is about the extent of my knowledge of them. When it comes to identification/morphology i know next to nothing.

Could be some species of Liocheles.

So after some reading i found out that Liocheles australasiae lives all around Taiwan (surrounding land masses), still didn't see anything for here yet, but it seems at least likely.

I also read that Liocheles australasiae is parthenogenetic. and according to some websites it seems to fit right in for habitat i found them in.

One site also mentioned a white tipped tail, im not sure if that is common amongst this genus, or others, but these do have white tipped tails.

Anyone else have any thoughts?

Always difficult to say when dealing with juveniles. It does resemble young from my L.australasiae from the Philippines, it could also be a Scorpiops species, but like I said, it is difficult to say.
