Microhumanoid reasearchers have long debated the reproductive process of Smurfus lividum. Females are, indeed, very rare. It is suspected that they reproduce through a sort of male-based parthenogenisis. The females are an anomoly, and presumably sterile.

wasn't there only a single recorded example of smurf reproduction? and the resultant offspring was stunted and nearly non-viable, being nowhere near the proper "three apple" measurement and showing no signs of growth. this raised dire & ultimately justified concerns for the species as they eventually were "cancelled" and "faded into obscurity". hopefully forever.

apparently, lasrge arachnids had some hand in the devastation of smurf populations as well.
can you imagine the scene of horror in Smurf Village if a large, aggrssive tarantula cam calling? warms the heart, it does.
