The animal ban is very bizarrely written.

Animals”: shall mean any living thing that moves but is not human, i.e., including but not limited to, fowl, cows, swine, reptiles, sheep, monkeys, chimpanzees, baboons, lions, tigers, bobcats, cougars, leopards, jaguars, non-domesticated cats, wolves, coyotes, foxes, jackals, non-domesticated dogs, bears, venomous snakes and constrictor snakes, alligators, crocodiles, porcupines, weasels, badgers, elephants, hyenas, hippopotamuses, giraffes, camels, cattle, cows, hogs, pigs, sheep, goats, horses, raccoons, kangaroos, opossums, rhinoceroses, anteaters, sloths, armadillos, mongooses, skunks, venomous lizards, emus, llamas, alpacas, etc., but excluding “Pets”.

“Pets”: shall mean common domestic household animals including but not limited to: cats, dogs, fish, rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters, etc.

So…..you can’t have animals, but can have pets…? What defines a pet versus animal and what is going to be ruled on livestock needs of the state, because most consistent cattle, pigs, sheep, goats for farm needs as animals and not pets?
The wording later gets confusing as it’s says all other “pets” are also not allowed. Knowing and having worked in PA for years I know just how much of a burden this could be for farms and many owners of animals and “pets”.

But they made no mention to arachnids or tarantulas so hey silver lining???

also confused on why they repeat certain animal group in the same animal list more than once

It says anything that moves that is non-human :(

Edit: what about ESA non-humans? I'm happy to draft a letter for my emotional support tardigrades if someone wants to let me use their local address

Looks like someone from peta wrote this law . Rediculous! Why would anyone ban all animals ? Aren’t some of these already illegal?

My favorite part is " There are no exceptions except ... ". o_O

Then they go on to say " including but not limited to ...", but then also say at the end " etc. ". They kinda cancel each other out, lol.

Like, who wrote this??? This is soooooo badly worded, it makes my head hurt.

This was my exact issue. They excluded pets and then at the end completely contradict themselves. In multiple places too!?

Baffling this passes for literacy in any form of government 🙄

It says anything that moves that is non-human :(
This cracked me up and my wife was like “huh….??….they’re idiots”….

YES !!! I also noticed the repetition.

Had to be someone's "kid", right? IT JUST HAD TO!
You'll find it was roughly itemized then left to AI for the draft.
You only need to look on eBay under for example, Digital Camera for sale, out of 200 160 will have the exact same description details.

If you attempt to list an item eBay asks " Do you want the AI listing ?? "

They write things in certain ways that create loopholes to justify banning something when they want to. Basicaly, meaning it is self serving for the authority. It gives them the liberty to decide when they want to apply it.

if it did not pass, it is a good thing. Glad people got up against just absurdity. It starts with small things like pets, then they start to tighten the rope on bigger things.

That bill would have doomed a budgerigar to a sad lonely existence. It also would make bacteria illegal.
Everyone's an offender, pay your fines......

Maybe I should re-classify my pets as pieces of performance art.

They seemed so surprised by the angry mob of people who showed up. Did they really believe this bill was going to pass without issue?

Viruses too 🤣...basically every kingdom but fungi and plants (well, not "walking trees" 🤣🤣🤣🤣)
Not so sure about the viruses, I don't think they're considered living but I could be wrong. Trees, plants and fungi do move. They have to move as they grow and some plants move through the day to follow the sun, open flowers, etc...

I think the real challenge would be finding something allowed by this bill; corals are out, but what about sponges?

Touche on the viruses... I was ruling out kingdoms on the basis that they can't just relocate and survive... e.g. root systems if applicable are stationary but you're right, following the sun is technically moving, as is blooming. External forces causing movement though.... God I love how pedantic we can all be when it comes to fighting ignorance 😍

a few towns in IL and even the state has tried to pass something similar a few times. I guarantee my sheltered ass community would try this if they knew how many inverts I actually have

" it shall be unlawful for an person/owner in the Borough to house, keep or maintain any pet…”
And what do you think the law enforcement community will regard this additional duty as?

opportunity.

you can now enter anyones home to search the premises to find the “pet” .

Perhaps you will find drugs or weapons… a jade spider stolen 10 years agao. Who knows. They do. They have a plan.
